Arunachalam is also known as Tiruvannamalai which is a significant pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Shiva in his manifestation as Agni Lingam (fire element). Here is our itinerary:
Pickup from nearest airport or railway station and direct transfer to the Hotel for refreshments. We start our Day Tour after having the complementary breakfast at the Hotel.
If you are willing to perform Giri Pradakshina, you can start early in the morning or evening times to avoid the heat of the Sun. For normal darshan, we can start towards temple after our breakfast. Explore the massive gopurams, halls, and sanctum. Offer prayers and admire the ancient architecture.
After a healthy vegetarian lunch, head towards Virupaksha Cave. A tranquil sanctuary nestled on the outskirts of Arunachalam. This sacred retreat, steeped in spirituality, offers an ideal setting for meditation and self-reflection. Renowned for its association with the revered saint Ramana Maharshi.
Return back to Hotel for night stay.
Today is completely dedicated to the local sightseeing. Early in the morning we start our day with local temple visits like Ramana Maharshi Ashram, Skandashramam, Arunachala Hill, Yogi Ram Surat Kumar Ashram.
Few may require pass at the entrance. Upon visiting these proceed for Arunachala Siva darshan again. If time permits make a visit to Sathanur Dam for a short trip to this scenic dam about 30 km from Tiruvannamalai.
